Meet the Governors

Kath Clark  Chair of Governors
At the last Governor's meeting, I was elected as your new chair of governors.  Andrew Dimelow had been a superb chair of governors and we thanked him for his hard work and commitment to the school.

I am a retired primary school teacher, having taught in several schools in the north of Sheffield for 38 years.

I have been proud to have served as a governor since November 2011, as we have a wonderful school with a caring, dedicated and talented staff, working in partnership with our children, their parents and carers.

I am in school on Wednesdays, when I volunteer as a classroom helper. I look forward to meeting the children and working with them. I try to attend school events so please come and have a chat or you can contact me through the school office.

Peter Monfort.

Peter is a co-opted governor.

Peter is married and dad to four daughters.  Peter has been in education since leaving Sheffield University.  He has taught science, math’s and technology in a number of Secondary Schools in Yorkshire and worked as a Deputy Head, an OFSTED inspector as well as a chairman on the NCSL’s Professional Conduct Panels.  Most recently Peter has moved out of state education having requalified as an electrician.  He now runs a successful Electrical Contracting Company and still teaches privately in a local Electrical Training Centre.  Peter enjoys fitness training and spending time with his family.

Ann North.

Ann is a local authority governor.

Ann began teaching in 1965 working at Bradfield Secondary School and Loxley Primary before taking a position here at Stocksbridge Nursery Infants in 1976 where she remained until her retirement in 1997 (though she continued supply teaching here for a while afterwards).

Ann was Deputy Head in 1980 when the Nursery opened and has taught across all age groups. Ann is very interested in Special Educational Needs provision, having helped to develop the schools SEN policy in the early 90’s and continues that interest today as a governor (a role she has held since 1998).

Ann is proud of our school’s commitment to SEN provision and recognises how highly this work is regarded in Sheffield with members of our school staff involved in new initiatives across the region. Ann is particularly involved with the youngest of our children in the Nursery and Foundation classes and liaises regularly with our SEN Co-Ordinator.

Ruth Parker:

“I have been a governor here for several years, initially as a parent governor when my daughter attended the school. I have lived in the community for most of my life and am committed to ensuring our school continues to provide all pupils with a safe, inspiring and happy learning environment.

I am a qualified Human Resources professional, with experience in a variety of roles and industries. I am grateful for the opportunity to use the skills and experience I have developed, together with my experience as a parent, to contribute to the work of the governing body in supporting this fantastic school”.

Governors are proud that Mrs Townsend represented our school in London this week to discuss school funding, alongside other Sheffield schools, and we recognise the continued hard work and commitment of all our fantastic school staff.

Zoe Tingle is co-Vice Chair.

I am a mum of two and joined the governing body in 2016. I have some knowledge of finance, analysing data, and project management but also a real desire to support our school. We have dedicated school staff that really help to create a fantastic environment for our children to learn and develop and through being a governor I can hopefully contribute to that and be more involved in school life, which as a full time working mum can be difficult.

I am happy to be contacted on any matters, though my main responsibilities are around Health, Safety and Wellbeing and Governor Communications.

Governors would like to thank Mrs Townsend and school staff for their hard work in what feels like a long half term since Christmas, and hope you all enjoy the holidays.

Tamsin Bond is co-Vice Chair of the governing body:

I am a full time mother of two boys and a part time civil servant currently in a finance role at the Department for Education. I've lived in Stocksbridge since 2013 and joined the Governing Board in 2016 when my eldest son was in Y1. I decided to become a governor out of a desire to contribute to a vibrant and happy school where the children are always put first.

In addition to finance skills, I bring safeguarding experience to the board having previously worked as a qualified social worker. I have a strong belief that children thrive if they feel secure and confident in their environment.

I am happy to be contacted directly with any issues or ideas parents would like raised.

Heather Haigh is a parent governor.

“I have been a governor since 2014.  I am a mum of two children aged 6 and 8 years. I currently work for Yorkshire Ambulance Service as a Senior Clinical Nurse Advisor.  I really enjoy being involved with such a happy and vibrant school.”

Joanne Wilkinson:

“I have been a governor since 2016.  I am a mum to 3 children aged 2, 8 and 10 as well as working as a primary school teacher.  My middle child has ASD which I hope, helps give me an insight into all aspects of education and how children learn.  I hope that I bring a perspective to the governors from a position of understanding how schools work and the obstacles that are currently in place in all schools, in order to support the staff and leadership of the school”.

Some of our Governors had the pleasure of attending the wonderful Mother’s Day Celebrations in school today. It is fantastic seeing the efforts that go into these events and the smiles (and occasional happy tears) on the faces of the children, and the grown-ups.

After the incredible hard work this term, as school closes for the holidays (probably can’t call them Easter Holidays when we’re not quite at Easter yet!), we would like to wish all staff, children and their grown-ups a lovely break, and also spare a thought for some of our staff that continue to work during the holidays, including our fantastic Mr Grocock doing some important jobs to make sure our school remains clean, tidy and safe for the children returning on the 15th April.

Matt Collins
I have started as a governor this year and am keen to support such a vibrant and happy school.  I have 3 children aged 13, 11 and 4. Currently I work for Peak, the largest provider of alternative education in the area, supporting the delivery of adventure education.  I hope my experience with health, safety and alternative education will support the schools staff and leadership team.
Many thanks,
Matt
